Volunteers

At Renaissance, we ask all families to volunteer a minimum of 40 hours each school year. However, we encourage volunteering not to just to meet a requirement — we volunteer because We Are Crew. Volunteering is how we live out “Crew in Action,” reflecting the core values that guide our school: Courage, Perseverance, Integrity, Service, Stewardship, and Passion.

When families engage in "Crew in Action", they gain a deeper connection to Renaissance's mission, goals and community. This is the true purpose of Crew — working together, supporting one another, and growing as a united team.

General Volunteering Requirements

To ensure a safe and supportive environment for our students, all REMS volunteers must complete the following steps:

Parents and Guardians submit a DCSD Parent Volunteer Agreement if you did not complete it during Express Check In. Email the PVA back to Front Office.
Non-parents/guardians submit a DCSD Community Volunteer Application.
Complete Volunteer Best Practices Training - This mandatory training is required for anyone who wishes to volunteer — including REMS parents and any outside individuals. The training is virtual and self-paced.
Check In at the Front Desk - All volunteers must have their Driver’s License scanned into the Raptor System at the front desk each time they enter the building.

Find Opportunities That Fit Your Schedule

We use Track It Forward, an easy-to-use online portal, to help families find volunteer opportunities and log their hours. At the beginning of each school year, we ask every family to register and create an account.

With Track It Forward, you can:

Browse volunteer opportunities by event or classroom
Sign up to help with school-wide activities (like belaying during climbing season)
Volunteer even if you're not available during school hours — many projects can be done from home or during evening/weekend events

We understand every family's schedule is different. If you need help finding a role that works for you, please contact our Parent Crew Volunteer Coordinator.

Renaissance families logged close to 10,000 VOLUNTEER HOURS last school year, providing invaluable support to our students, staff and school.

Voyage Chaperone Requirements

The Adventure Education Coordinator selects voyage chaperones by lottery and will notify applicants at least 3 weeks in advance of voyage start date.

2026 Winter Voyage Chaperone Applications Due by 4pm on December 5, 2025
Selected Chaperones: Mandatory Training December 11, 2025

Complete steps 1 - 5 by the due date:

Complete the Community Volunteer Application
Provide a copy of your Colorado Driver’s License
(We are unable to process any out-of-state Driver's Licenses)
Submit your Community Volunteer Application and copy of your Colorado Driver's License to Ms. Ashley for a DCSD Background check.
Complete Volunteer Best Practices Training
Review Voyage Chaperone Expectations

Please consider being designated as a Chaperone Alternate!

If selected as a chaperone:

Complete and submit Voyage Chaperone Agreement
Complete the Camp Adult Waiver that will be sent to you
Attend the mandatory training and informational meeting

Fieldwork Chaperone Requirements

Crew teachers select chaperones by lottery for fieldwork. If you are selected as a chaperone for field work, all documents must be submitted to your crew teacher at their requested deadline.

Parents:
